Gary Marsh Design

Gary Marsh Design is a landscape design practice, and its website has been developed, implemented, and maintained in partnership with us across more than seven years. That longevity is the defining fact of the project and shapes how it was built.

Landscape design is a slow-moving visual discipline. A garden photographed at installation and the same garden photographed five years later are different pieces of evidence, and the second is usually the more persuasive one. A portfolio for this kind of practice is never finished — it accumulates. The site is structured so that new work can be added continuously without a rebuild, which is what makes a seven-year relationship viable rather than a series of costly redesigns.

The work is organised into landscape design and architecture and outdoor living, separating planting and ground-level design from built structures and outdoor rooms. Prospective clients arrive with one or the other in mind, and the distinction reflects genuinely different commissions. A publications section collects where the practice’s work has appeared, which for a design practice functions as third-party validation in a way that self-description cannot. Testimonials and a detailed about page carry the personal dimension of a practice that trades substantially on the principal’s own reputation.

Gary Marsh’s sculpture and painting practice is presented separately at Gary Marsh Sculptor, so that each body of work has its own audience and its own site rather than competing for attention within a single navigation.

Sustained maintenance is the least visible part of this engagement and the most important. A design portfolio that breaks, falls out of date, or quietly stops working on current devices actively damages the practice it is meant to represent. The point of a relationship measured in years rather than deliverables is that the site keeps working — and keeps growing — without becoming a project again.
